What is the syllabus of UPSC Mains and What are the 9 papers in UPSC Mains?

This is because only the candidates that are able to successfully clear Phase 1, or the Prelims, are allowed to appear for the Phase 2 or Mains exam. In other words, only the candidates that are able to score above the UPSC cut-offs for the Prelims are then allowed to take the Mains exam. The Mains exam, fundamentally, is designed to test your understanding of the various subjects falling under the purview of the  UPSC 2022 Mains syllabus , and it is designed to make you do so in a time-bound fashion. An important thing to note is that all the papers except for the 2 language papers included in the UPSC Mains syllabus can be written in any of the languages mentioned in Schedule 8 of the Indian Constitution. The 9 papers of UPSC Mains Exam consists of: 1 Language Paper of your choice 1 English Language Paper 1 Essay Paper 4 General Studies Papers 2 Optional Subject Papers

How to Prepare for UPSC Exam?

There's a reason why every mentor advises you that you need a solid UPSC study strategy; the exams are often regarded as the most difficult, strict, and prestigious in India. Every year, about a million candidates from all around the country take the exam. However, because the number of vacancies is so small, only a small percentage of the million are able to realise their bureaucratic aspirations. This only adds to the exam's difficulty. The IAS tests are difficult not only because of the extensive material, but also because of their unpredictability. In this section of the article, I'll go through how to prepare for the UPSC in great depth. So, the first thing you should know regarding UPSC preparation is that being a bookworm will not help you succeed. You'd need to be well-read, socially and politically savvy, and self-assured in addition to being a bookworm. You'd also need an authoritative yet appealing personality to go along with all of that. With that i...

UPSC Prelims Syllabus Starting with the UPSC Prelims syllabus, it should come as no surprise that the syllabus is quite extensive in and of itself. The UPSC Prelims examination, on the other hand, is mostly used for screening purposes. As a result, if you pass the Prelims exam, you will be qualified to take the Mains exam. In addition, if you make it to the interview phase, your Prelims scores will not be factored towards your final order of merit. The UPSC prelims examination consists of two papers: a general studies paper and a CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) paper. UPSC Prelims Syllabus for Paper 1: General Studies (GS) This GS paper, also known as paper 1, is aimed to assess your broad knowledge of your surroundings and the globe, as well as your perceptive nature, by posing questions on current events. The  UPSC prelims syllabus for the GS  test covers a wide range of topics, making it impossible to predict the types of questions that will be ask...

How to Optimally Utilize Suggested UPSC Books

It should be noted that the UPSC Syllabus is vast, and therefore, it takes a minimum duration of at least a year to read through comprehensively. Thus, make sure that you do not waste precious time reading from books that are not up to the mark or are below standard. By below standard, I mean books that might contain unauthenticated or incorrect information. Make sure to take notes while reading from the IAS books that I have listed for you above. There are some excellent IAS books for preparation like Laxmikanth, & the NCERTs. Books such as these are tailor-made for the UPSC exams. This is because a lot of questions related to the subject of polity are asked directly from this book. These are the kind of books that you should read as thoroughly as possible. In addition to the points that I have written above, there are a lot of books that consist of information in a “notes”- like format. So, in a way, books like these already do provide you with the notes that you need to ...
